Root Canals

A root canal is a nonsurgical procedure that removes an inflamed or infected pulp or "nerve" from a tooth so you can comfortably maintain a tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted. After the pulp is removed, the root is filled with a rubber-like material to keep it sealed from bacteria and the tooth is restored with a crown or other restoration. It's basically a root filling!

Root canals are often feared, but with good numbing technique most root canals are easy and painless procedures that can provide quick relief when you have toothache!
We strive to do most root canals in our office, but some more complicated cases including teeth that have already had a root canal that is failing may require treatment with a root canal specialist called an endodontist. At your exam visit we will discuss the best option for your teeth.
